What We Accept at Uptown Bottle Depot
Glass bottles – Beer, wine, and soft drink bottles are repurposed into new glass products, reflective street paint, and fibreglass insulation.
Plastic (PET) containers—Clear plastic containers are shredded into pellets or flakes, which are used to manufacture new food-grade plastics, clothing, and carpets.
Aluminum cans – These are melted down and turned into new beverage cans, keeping aluminum in circulation with a 95-99% recycling rate.
Tetra Pak and gable-top cartons—The paper, plastic, and aluminum in these containers are separated using hydro-pulping, and the pulp is reused for tissues, cardboard, and writing materials.
Bi-metal cans – These cans are smelted down and repurposed into auto parts and industrial materials.
Pouches and bag-in-box containers: Pouches are incinerated for heat energy, while bag-in-box materials are recycled into tough paper products.
